Fower Sovereygnes Reygnes: the music of Thomas Tallis
Saturday 24th March 2018
St Barnabas
Pitshanger Lane, Ealing, W5 1QG >

Elizabeth I

This concert, featuring special guest ensemble The Marian Consort >, explores the music of Englandís first iconic composer, charting how his style developed to serve the fluctuating requirements of the four Monarchs under whom he served. In so doing, we follow a period of tremendous social and religious upheaval and trace the genesis of Anglican liturgical music.

Musical director Richard Bannan

The Marian Consort (directed by Rory McCleery) takes its name from the Blessed Virgin Mary, a focus of religious devotion in the sacred music of all ages. A Gramophone Award-nominated and internationally renowned early music vocal ensemble, The Marian Consort is recognised for its dynamic freshness of approach and innovative presentation of a broad range of repertoire.
